Steel Recycling

Recycling not only makes good sense by stopping waste going to landfill, it also cuts the use of raw materials, energy and water.

Recycling steel cans is part of our business

Steel cans for packaging is a reliable packaging for our food in durable, tamper-resistant, shelf-stable containers. The familiar ‘tin' can has been part of our society for more than a century.

Steel cans package a variety of products, including fruits, vegetables, soups, sauces, meats, condiments, juice, pet food, cleaning products, paint, shoe polish, adhesive bandages, coffee and even cookies. Steel cans are 100% recyclable. And they have the potential to be recycled over and over again into new steel products to save resources. According to reach of the World Steel organisation (worldsteel), every tonne of steel packaging recycled in the EU makes the following environmental savings:

In the UK, we have created our own Tata Steel Packaging Recycling (TSPR) business to ensure high recycling rates for steel packaging. We support collection for recycling in our home markets in both the Netherlands (link SKB) and in the UK (link TSPR, MPMA, BCME projects).
